Brilliant at two, and a grade one winning sprinter at three, More Than Ready, has rapidly established himself as a very exciting young sire. From his first fiveNorthern Hemisphere crops he has 34 stakes winners, six of them group or graded. In Australia, More Than Ready is been Leading Freshman Sire, and Leading Sire of Two-Year-Olds, and is already represented by four grade one winners, including the sensational Sebring.
A grandson of Halo, More Than Ready carries both Northern Dancer , and Mr. Prospector , but he is already meeting with success when crossed back over mares from those sire lines. From the Northern Dancer line he has shown a very strong affinity for Danzig , and particularly through Danehill , with mare by Pine Bluff , Langfuhr and Polish Numbers also supplying stakes winners . He also has stakes winners out of mares descending from Northern Dancer through Storm Cat and his son, Forest Wildcat , through Manila , a son of Lyphard ; and El Gran Senor and his brother Try My Best (out of a mare by Last Tycoon). He also has the excellent Ready's Image out of a mare by Clever Trick , and a stakes winner out of a mare by a son of Wild Again , both by Icecapade , a close genetic relative to Northern Dancer.
More Than Ready has also sired six stakes winners out of Mr. Prospector line mares. This includes the grade one winning Carry On Cutie (dam by a son of Conquistador Cielo ). He also has two stakes winners out of mares descending from Mr. Prospector through Crafty Prospector (and his son, Prospect Bay ) , and stakes winners out of mares by Gold Fever (by Forty Niner ), De Niro (by Gulch ), Fortunate Prospect , West By West (by Gone West ), and Defensive Play (by Fappiano ). Mr. Prospector is a Raise a Native line horse, and from the Majestic Light branch of the Raise a Native line is More Than Ready's group winner La Chunga (out of a mare by Wavering Monarch , also sire of the second dam of Ready's Image).
More Than Ready has sired stakes winners out of mares from several different branches of the Nasrullah line. His graded stakes winner, Ready's Gal, is out of a mare by Nasty and Bold , a son of Naskra , and he also has a stakes winner out of a mare by Naskra son, Olympio . From the Bold Ruler line, More Than Ready has stakes winner Ready For Roses, out of a mare by Formal Dinner (a grandson of Raja Baba , a horse who is also sire of the second dam of a More Than Ready stakes winner). From the Blushing Groom line, he has a stakes winner out of a mare by Blushing John . His stakes winners, Ready Ruler and More Than Regal, are out of a mare going back to Nasrullah through Good Manners , a son of Nashua , bred very similarly to the dam of Mr. Prospector .
More Than Ready also has stakes winners out of mares by Broad Brush (by Ack Ack ); Apalachee (by Round Table ); Marscay and Full and By (noth from Australia's Star Kingdom line) and Kaapstad (a Sir Ivor line horse); Time For A Change (by Damascus ); Lord Avie (from the Sir Gaylord line); and Warning (by Know Fact , a son of In Reality ).
We should also note that More Than Ready is out of a mare with very strong linebreeding to the La Troienne family, and has explosive potential if bred back to horses carrying more of this strain. A prime source is Buckpasser , who already appears in the dams of eight stakes winners by More Than Ready.
