A field of twelve maidens lined up with OUTLAW'S SONG in post nine. Showing no early speed, the bay gelding was back in ninth for the first half-mile and with two furlongs to go, he still had seven lengths to make-up. He rallied from the four path coming off the turn and into the stretch. He kept closing, taking over inside the sixteenth pole and drawing away to win by three lengths.
