MALDIVAS
PURE PRIZE FILLY MALDIVAS WINS GROUP I
MALDIVAS (ARG) continued her rapid ascent in the three-year-old filly division with an explosive five-length victory in the Gran Premio Seleccion de Potrancas (Arg-G1) on Sunday at Hipodromo La Plata.

The 2,000-meter (9.94-furlongs) classic distance was not a problem for the strapping PURE PRIZE filly, who improved upon her third-place finish on a muddy track in the Clasico Polla de Potrancas (Arg-G2) on July 18.

Tradizione Slam, by Grand Slam, finished second, four lengths clear of Excellent Note. Pride of Dignity, who defeated MALDIVAS while winning the Clasico Polla de Potrancas, finished fourth as the second betting choice. Favorite Stripestar, winner of the Clasico Diego White (Arg-G3), finished a disappointing ninth in the ten-horse field.

Trained by Raul Ramallo and ridden by Gonzalo Hahn, MALDIVAS covered the 2,000 meters in 2:06.08 for her first Group 1 triumph and second career victory in three starts.

A six-length winner of her two-year-old debut at La Plata on June 15, MALDIVAS races for Stud Los Retoños and was bred in Argentina by Haras Carampangue.   more....

JORDY Y   ( Congrats )
Sunday, August 01, 2010
JORDY Y is now two-for-two with her victory in the 6th race at Arlington Park, a five and one-half furlong allowance over the Polytrack with a purse of $33,140.

The chestnut daughter of CONGRATS sat several lengths off the speed duel that lasted until the field was coming off the far turn. One of the two pacesetters backed up, but the leader was not backing up. JORDY Y unleashed a powerful closing kick, flying past the leader inside the final sixteenth and galloping on to win by a length and one-quarter.

JORDY Y races for Darrell and Evelyn Yates and she is trained by Wayne Catalano. Bred in Florida by Bridle Oaks Farm, Inc., she is out of the Fly So Free mare, Debt Free.
